Kai, Stopper of Floods, Breaker of Storms, Sinker of Fleets, Incarnation of Pisces on Liphilius, of the Great Shark Tribe
Location: Arcadia, Celestialan Tower
Accompanying: Nawai'Ano Maikiki, Rain Maker, Drought Stopper, of the Great Shark Tribe; Oh, and the Eccentrique

Kai straightened up from his slouch at the mention of the previous leader's death. His brow furrowed. "I am Kai, Avatar of Pisces. What happened to Cryion?" He'd seemed fine at the last meeting Kai had attended. While that was several meetings past, the point stood. Sudden onset of illness was unlikely for a man who would be in contact with the best mages of all types in Liphilius.

"Of course I'll have your back, Asena. Through anything." Septimus smiled lightly and kissed her on the head before stepping away. "Here, let's see what is suitable to be picked for tonight's dinner, shall we?"

"Don't be too impressed," Septimus said dryly. "My power does a lot of the hard work for me. I just provide the seeds and make sure to do the watering and the like as needed." He smiled and wrapped an arm around her waist as she stepped closer to him.

"An invitation to a party? I believe I heard something about that. If you're wishing to take me as your plus one, then I'll gladly accept." He grinned a bit, leaning down to kiss her cheek. "Though, it may wreak hell on our political campaigns if I drag you to the corner and snog you all night."

None would suspect they'd find the most powerful Zsill mage in the world sleeping on a rock while his fishing pole dangled from one hand. That was why it was the perfect disguise. Well, it would have been the perfect disguise if a certain headstrong apprentice hadn't rudely shaken him awake and handed him a missive from the Order.

Upon reading about an urgent meeting of the Eccentrique, Kai's first reaction was to keep fishing. When one Maikiki gave him a firm glare, he'd reeled in the line -- acting shocked that the bait was missing -- and gone to grab a boat.

It would have been faster to travel overland until they reached the southern cities of Elvira and Elmira, instead of sailing around the coast, but Kai seemed determined to miss this meeting. So he was quite surprised when he walked into the tower and saw the others gathered.

"Ah! It appears I am on time for once." He stretched and moved to lounge in his accustomed spot under the symbol of Pisces. "It has been some time. Allow me to introduce my apprentice, Nawai'Ano Maikiki. Maikiki, these are the other Eccentriques."

With a soft smirk on his face, Septimus moved over Asena once more.

---

With that out of their systems, Septimus led Asena out into the garden.

He chuckled a bit, a bass reverberation through his chest. "Yes, Asena, it's perfect." He shifted to lean in and softly kiss her neck. "If you want, I can show you how good it is before we get up." He grinned softly, trailing his hand down her belly.

Septimus, for his part, slept very well after their fun. When Asena cuddled up to him for warmth, he happily draped an arm over her waist and pulled her back up against his chest. His eyes opened a crack and he smiled. "Good morning my dear," he murmured. "How was your night?"

The man watched as Asena made her way to the door, and he he loved every second of that watch. As she turned and asked if he was coming, he rose from his seat in a flash. He snatched up his wine glass and hurried to follow her. He gave quick orders to the servants waiting to clean up after them, and then made his way to his rooms.

The quarters were nice, if a bit bare. The bed looked like it struck a fine balance between plush and firm, comfortable for almost anyone to sleep in, and was decorated in fine green and gold silks. There was a writing desk in one corner next to a smaller bookshelf than the ones elsewhere in the house, and a hearth in the middle of the room provided steady warmth.

Septimus smiled a bit as he saw that Asena had gotten his intent. He reached over to pour her more wine. "We can bring the bottle and glasses with us, I think. We can still retire, but we don't have to go immediately to sleep." He was being more forward than his usual self, he knew. With Asena he didn't feel that he needed to be coy or to talk in riddles. He could let his politician's brain rest and be blunt with her, at least in private. "I suppose the question is truly thus; your quarters or mine, dear?"

Septimus smiled and nodded. "I would be delighted, dear." He quietly poured himself another glass of wine, thinking some thoughts that were very tempting. "Would you like more wine, Asena? And then maybe we can... retire for the night?" He glances up at her through his eye lashes, trying to get a read on her expression.

"Alessandria is my home, now. I have a sphere of influence here, friends who both keep me company as well as challenge me, and rivals who only challenge me. I'll always remember where I came from, and I'll travel when the daily politics and the walls and buildings get too much for me, but I have reasons to remain here." With the last line, he met her eyes.

Yes, Asena was a very good reason for him to stay. If she made the Truce, she would be tied to Alessandria for a long time to come, and he wouldn't ever want to be where she wasn't. Not now, not for a single day. Her other question made him smile. "Help yourself to the garden. It's mostly veggies, but there are a couple apple trees and some berry bushes as well."

"There's not anywhere I wouldn't want to go back to in particular," Septimus replied after some consideration. "Traveling with Gen, I tended to see both the best and the worst of a city or country. We went to Uleplex, and for every religious zealot that wanted to wipe any non-Heli from the planet, there were ten people who were just trying to get by and were willing to offer their homes to strangers for some extra money or help with chores."

He sighed. "People don't seem to realize that the first places affected by an evil warlord or a genocidal religion are the places where such people make their homes. The Alessandrian people think of Uleplex and think that everyone there is a member of the Church, and they don't realize that the Church has killed families and even entire villages that didn't bend to their ideal. I don't relish staying in Blæshavn or the Emerald Keep, but I don't hate the people that live there, for the most part."

"Oh, no, I actually fought it. Kri was scared witless after its first attack. To keep it from mauling or eating her, I used my Misilm to throw rocks and upset its footing."

He smiled and leaned back in his chair. "Probably I'd say two or so minutes alone with it before help showed up and dragged us out of there. But a very exciting two minutes." He then took another bite, savoring the roast's hearty flavor along with the sweetness of the carrots.

"And yourself?" he asked once he'd swallowed that. "You were with the Nomads almost your whole life, surely you have some exciting adventures as well."

Septimus considered the question, chewing on it as he chewed on the roast. He swallowed and took a sip of the wine to help wash down the piece before he spoke.

"Traveling with Genievieve gave me no shortage of adventures. I've encountered monsters and spirits of all sorts, sat in on meetings between powerful mages, and visited all sorts of exotic environments. Not to blow my own trumpet too loudly, but I'm a very well-traveled man."

He smiled a bit, his eyes twinkling with mischief. He knew he was stringing her along, teasing her with the buildup to his answer. Now it was time for the payoff. "In terms of the most exciting moment of my life, though? It would probably be the time when I was ten and my friend Kri and I fought a Manticore in its lair." With that said, he took another bite of his roast.

Septimus chuckled softly as he started eating. "Oh, you're the first female guest in quite some time. I should have company more often though. They don't want to seem disobedient or impertinent in front of company, and that means I don't have to repeatedly tell them to stop fawning over me."

He shook his head a bit in disgust. "Honestly, any other noble would have them breaking their backs to labor around the estate. I try to go easy and they insist on trying to cater to any small need I might have. 'I'll fetch your jacket, sir. Let me draw your bath. Do you need me to chew your steak for you?'"

He paused, glancing at her. "Anyways, enough about my staff. Is there anything you'd like to talk about?"
